The Cardpool Convention

I am pon­der­ing all the time whether or not to attend this year’s Black­pool con­ven­tion. I love the Wintergarden’s, the magi­cians and I love the Ruskins.

I love meet­ing pals, strolling through the dealer’s hall, watch­ing lec­tures and all this. And the pints, of course …

BUT—what real­ly fright­ens (and detains) me is the vast amount of card mag­ic I would be fac­ing there. Non­stop, at all times and every­where. Moves, flour­ish­es, ideas, unfin­ished rou­tines, con­cepts, attempts …

In the past years, doing card tricks every­where around the con­ven­tion has appar­ent­ly become state-of-the-art. There­fore: The ‘Card­pool Con­ven­tion’.

Not that I don’t like card tricks per se (I do even do some), but then at such a big con­ven­tion I would absolute­ly love from time to time to see some­thing else demon­strat­ed to me besides the cards …

So, if some­one were to promise to show me a cou­ple of non-card items, then I would recon­sid­er going to the ‘Card­pool Con­ven­tion’ this year. I might even take my box with me and return the favour with a cou­ple of reels. Prob­a­bly I would­n’t Carey (pun!) a deck with me … 🙂
