I got a hold on these eBooks by Mark Elsdon some time ago. After reading them, two things dawned on me.
Not that I don‘t have some understanding of magic and read through all the relevant books and magazines. But more because Mark showed me what I over-read and missed!
For me, it is a miracle how a single person can collect such an amount of material. In each of these eBooks (there are four of them meanwhile) you will find 100 handpicked items from Mark‘s personal notebooks/collection. Stuff that sometimes reads dull or seems innocent, but has a tremendous impact in real-world performance.
The beautiful thing about the collections is the fact that Mark is a consummate performer and has tried out most of the routines and tricks. His comments on how and why are priceless.
Not only will you have tons of unknown and exquisite routines and ideas at your disposal, but also a lot of work digging into your library and finding the routines Mark pointed out.
If you will do that and want some different material for your shows, then these eBooks are the right choice. I promise they will occupy you for some time. At least, you want to give each item of interest a try, get the props together and study them. 400 items to find, try out and ponder with are a lot of work!
In the end, someone did the right thing: not publishing ‘new‘ stuff we don‘t need, but precisely pointing out material we already own within our books and magazines.
Fantastic material that is only waiting to be re-discovered. The title ‚Hidden Gems‘ is more than apropiate. The hidden gems will change your working repertoire.
