This snake basket is the result of years of work. It incorporates ideas that have never been used in a snake basket before. In developing it, I wanted to see some details realised that no one had dared to do before. I always liked the effect of the snake basket, but was not satisfied with ANY of the designs. Either the basket looked cheap or the snake that came out of the basket looked like a mechanical monster. I also didn’t like the snakes in terms of design.
The fact that you had to force a card and could not use a freely chosen one (let alone a signed one) reduced for me the effect, wonderful in itself, to the trick with the card duck (where at least you could use a freely chosen card). So I sat down and made up my rules by which my snake basket was to be played. After countless attempts (construction, gimmicks and flow), this concept was born.
Here is the routine as the audience sees it:
On stage is a small table with a large snake basket with a lid. The performer opens it, reaches in and pulls out a realistic-looking snake. The snake is shown and put back into the basket, over which the performer puts a large cloth.
Now a spectator is allowed to freely(!) choose a card from a pack of cards to sign on the picture side. The pack is placed in the card box and the spectator himself puts his card somewhere in the middle of the pack in the box and closes it.
The pack in the sealed card box is thrown into the basket and the snake is instructed to find the chosen card.
Now the unbelievable happens. The performer grabs the cloth at two corners and lifts it slightly. Suddenly a figure appears under the cloth. The cloth lifts and suddenly the snake, standing in the basket, appears behind the cloth and begins a snake dance. This alone seems incredible because the snake’s movements look so real.
It dives back into the basket and suddenly you see torn pieces of cardboard flying out of the basket in a high arc! Obviously, the snake has attacked the card box!
A few moments later, countless cards fly out of the basket! This is the well-known card fountain effect.
Now the snake mysteriously and slowly slithers out of the basket again, just as it did before—only this time it has the signed card in its mouth!
Here are the facts that set this creation far above all others:
- The snake can be taken out of the basket beforehand and viewed up close (there is only one snake).
- The card can be freely chosen and signed. It is even possible to tear off a corner, which the viewer may keep for later identification.
- The card is pushed into the pack of cards already in the case by the viewer himself. This is placed in the basket without any false movement.
- The movement of the snake is amazing. It seems to really live and crawl out of the basket! No mechanics or electronics are used, the principle is ingeniously solved.
The effect requires hardly any manual skill and can even be performed surrounded (with a little practice)!
You get:
- The snake (150 cm long). Not a cheap snake made of thin fabric, but a high-quality fabric snake that looks very real! It is ready prepared.
- The high-quality snake basket with lid, which also looks like a real snake basket (see photo).
- The cloth that has been specially prepared for this effect.
- A gimmick for the pack of cards that makes the described effect possible.
- A card fountain built into the basket (for the effect of the cards flying out of the basket).
- A detailed video in which I explain the exact procedure and handling in detail.
- A certificate with your copy number.
