Enough decova, 11 June 2018 Recently I acquired a very interesting read: John Naish’s book ‘Enough’. It’s main topics are about getting the idea of ‘having enough’. Whilst being a ’non-magic’ book, it is a very inspiring and thought provoking read for us magicians, who are facing the same problems of over-saturation, information overload and ‘I‑need-that-new-gimmick-trick-gadet’. Never before in the history of magic has the magic market been so huge. The digital age also makes it so easy for the marketers in this branche to bombard us with (mostly useless) information on a daily, even hourly base. Therefore, the adept has to learn to filter information and resist the temptation to get more and more (following our natural instincts). This book helps immensely to achieve that goal: to do, enjoy and perform magic without being a slave of the dealers and the magic industry. Real good magic can be performed without the newest ‘hip’ things and props. Because magic is not about props that the dealers want us to buy (so they get richer and richer). The magic industry evolved into a dangerous animal full of seductions. One needs to actively fight against that. This book will be of help to rethink our buying behaviour in magic and reshape our awareness and priorities. Using the principles and tips outlined in this book will definitively save us precious time and energy. Through that, we gain more time and energy for working on our magic, which in turn makes us better magicians on the long run. agenda-en

Table Hopping Chess 7 January 2017 I don’t do table-hopping anymore, except in an emergency. But when I was doing this, here is a little strategy that is easy to make, doesn’t cost a lot and is really fun to perform. This gets all your props in a handy case, supplies an additional performing surface on… Read More
Shank Shuffle 1 January 2016 For many years I was referring to this as a variant of the ‘Zarrow-Shuffle’, until Karl-Heinz Ritter from Munich corrected me, pointing out to me it’s actually more of a shank shuffle. For years I believed I was doing a proper Zarrow, which I was not (incompetence?). Whatever it is… Read More
