MASTERCLASS Magic Box Tricks

MASTERCLASS Magic Box Tricks

Who didn’t start out in magic with a magic set as a child? I’d say 80 to 90 percent of magicians began that way. Of course, I did too.

For me, my first magic set was a very special experience: I was sick in bed, and my father gave me a magic set. I was seven years old. Most kids that age get a magic set, have a brief surge of interest, and then give it up. For me, it was different. I had the magic set in my hands and immediately wanted the next one.

Ever since, I’ve been fascinated by the concept of the magic set—a tradition firmly rooted in our art for centuries. Over the decades, I’ve realized that we actually perform many tricks from those sets, just in much better versions, with more sophisticated and refined routines.

In this Masterclass, I’ll show you some of my favorite routines: the small ring trick with four rings (the Ninja Rings); my version of Short-Medium-Long, Professor’s Nightmare, which is especially convincing in close-up; my version of the Ball Vase, which will fool even the most experienced magicians; my Ladle Trick, the Interlocking Safety Pins; and a miniature version of the Cup Game that packs a punch. Plus, the Acrobatic Match Boxes and a few other surprises.

My vision stems from this story: having a magic set as a child. That evolved into a close-up act strongly inspired by Dr. Jak’s concept with his magical book, from which he performed his close-up tricks. In my current version, I bring a magic set to the table and talk about how it was my first one. Then I perform these tricks—all "magic set tricks," but with routines that are no longer recognizable as such to laypeople (or even magicians).

That’s the concept, and it’s a beautiful one. It always provides an easy way in when the question comes up: How did you actually learn magic? Then you can say: Well, I was once given a magic set, and I still have it today. You place the set on the table and perform these high-caliber routines, far superior to anything you’d find in a typical magic set.

What no magic set or printed instructions can do: In the Zoom session, I’m there for you. You ask me, and I’ll show you and answer your questions.

Important Note:

For now, I’m offering the live Masterclass only in German and English. However, I’m already working on adding subtitles in other languages to the video recording.

About the ordering process:

After your payment is received, you’ll get an email from me with the ZOOM link and password so you can log in to the session.
